Karnataka 2nd PUC Results 2026: Historic 86.48% Pass Percentage as Girls Sweep Top Honors

The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) officially declared the results for the 2nd PUC (Class 12) Exam-1 on Thursday, April 9, 2026. This year’s results have set a new benchmark for the state, with the overall pass percentage soaring to 86.48%, a massive leap from the 73.45% recorded in the previous year.

Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa announced the results during a press conference, highlighting that the “historic” performance reflects the resilience of students and the success of recent academic reforms.

Performance Highlights & Stream-wise Analysis

Out of the 6.32 lakh students who appeared for the examinations, a total of 5,46,698 successfully cleared the boards. As has been the trend in recent years, Science students led the way, while the Arts stream showed the most significant year-on-year improvement.

The Gender Gap

Female students continued their streak of excellence, significantly outperforming their male counterparts.

  • Girls: 88.70% pass rate
  • Boys: 83.65% pass rate

District Rankings: The Coastal Dominance

The coastal districts maintained their reputation as the state’s academic powerhouse. Udupi secured the top spot in the state with a pass percentage of 93.90%, closely followed by Dakshina Kannada. Conversely, Yadgir district recorded the lowest pass percentage at 48.45%.

Major Policy Changes: Exam-3 Scrapped

In a significant administrative update, Minister Bangarappa confirmed that the Exam-3 (the third attempt for improvement) has been discontinued for 2026. The department noted that while the second exam significantly helped students, the third exam provided only a marginal 1.8% improvement in 2025.

To support students who did not clear this session, the II PUC Exam-2 is scheduled to take place from April 30 to May 13, 2026.
